Seattle, WA - After spending a majority of the current NWSL season without a front-of-kit sponsor, our Seattle Reign FC have announced a multi-year agreement with Trupanion to take on that role after the Black Future Co-op Fund most recently held the space last season. Trupanion is a Seattle-based leader in medical insurance for cats and dogs, and will now become the Reign’s front-of-kit partner with the debut of the new look coming in the clubs next match this Friday at Lumen Field as Seattle hosts Bay FC in a West coast clash. Between the club and Trupanion lies a shared belief in equity, a passion for the power of pets and sport to unite communities, and of course strong local roots that the Reign always seem to be focused on. The partnership goes beyond representing a logo on the front of the kit with a mutual belief in values at the very front of this partnership.

As someone who has always had pets in my life, I know firsthand the comfort and emotional support they bring. That’s why this partnership with Trupanion feels so special. It’s exciting to see another Seattle-based, values-driven company invest in our sport, and we’re proud to carry their name on our kits.
— Lu Barnes, Seattle Reign FC defender and captain, via official press release.

Trupanion is headquartered in Seattle, led by Chief Executive Officer and President Margi Tooth. The company is said to represent the strength of women-led leadership as well as innovation here in the Pacific Northwest. The Reign see this partnership as a showcase to the region’s ability to champion the elevation of women at the highest levels, both in business and sport, as well as championing bold ideas which matches the clubs previous slogans of “Be Bold” amongst others. In that same vein, this partnership is aimed at shining a light on the love of pets as family and the importance of planning ahead, so that they can always receive necessary care.

Having been with this club since its first season in 2013, I’ve witnessed how much the league has grown and how vital partnerships like this are to our future. Trupanion understands our players and what drives them, and they share the values that define our club. It’s a partnership that authentically supports the team and will fuel us on the field while inspiring our community off it.
— Laura Harvey, Seattle Reign FC head coach, via official press release.

This isn’t a surprising partnership, considering how many Reign FC players are proud pet parents which has been displayed in Circling Seattle Sports’ “Players and puppies” interview project led by Bella Munson. The partnership with Trupanion will feel like home for the players who have pets in their lives, as the companies messaging already resonates so deeply with the team and it’s fanbase.

My pets are a huge part of my life, and they’ve always been a source of happiness for me. Having a partner
like Trupanion join forces with our club is truly special, and it means so much to us as players to see organizations in our city believe in what we’re building in women’s soccer.
— Claudia Dickey, Seattle Reign FC goalkeeper, via official press release.

In celebrating their new partnership with Trupanion, the Reign have recognized the historical significance of it’s previous partnership with the Black Future Co-op Fund (BFCF), which is a Washington nonprofit organization whose mission it is to improve the health and well-being of Black Washingtonians through Black-led philanthropy. The partnership lasted from 2022-2024, and in an effort led by the players, the club proudly donated it’s front of kit position to the Co-op which continues to be one of the Reign’s intentional RISE for Community partners, joining the club in advancing equity for all in both play and life. As added recognition to that continued support, the Reign are donating $10,000 to the Black Future Co-op Fund, which is being matched by Trupanion as a demonstration of their true commitment to social and racial equity and dedication to the clubs RISE for Community Pillars.

Further on the clubs partnership with Trupanion, the belief shared between the two sides is that their new joint effort will be a catalyst for greater impact. The organizations believe that together that can leverage the platforms they have to elevate women’s soccer, create meaningful opportunities that strengthen communities across the Pacific Northwest, and inspire the next generation all while keeping a reminder that caring for pets is part of caring for families.

The Reign were represented by Two Circles, a data-driven sports marketing agency, in sourcing and negotiating the multi-year partnership with Trupanion.

We’re proud to partner with Trupanion, a Seattle-born and women-led company that shares our values and vision. This partnership reflects the strength of our community – innovative, inclusive and rooted in equity – and we’re excited to build something that goes beyond the jersey to inspire fans, uplift women and
celebrate the special bond we all share with our pets.
— Maya Mendzoa-Exstrom, Seattle Reign FC Chief Business Officer, via official press release.

What’s next?

For the Reign on the pitch, and following their scoreless road draw against NJ/NY Gotham FC, they’ll return home from the East Coast for their last two matches at Lumen Field of the 2025 NWSL regular season. The first of those consecutive home games comes on Friday, October 10th against Bay FC with a kickoff time of 7:30PM PDT at Lumen Field that will be broadcast live on FOX 13, NWSL+, and Paramount+. In their second year of existence, Bay FC has struggled in the results department as they currently sit second to last in the NWSL, so the Reign will be looking to take advantage and push further towards a postseason berth when the two West coast clubs match up this Friday.
