Seattle Reign FC Sign Midfielder Mikayla Cluff Through 2025 Season

Seattle, WA - The Seattle Reign have signed former Utah Royals and Orlando Pride midfielder Mikayla Cluff for the remainder of the 2025 season. Cluff has immediately joined the roster and will be available for selection in the club’s upcoming game against the Washington Spirit on Sunday.
“We’re excited to welcome Mikayla to the Reign. She’s a talented midfielder with a strong work ethic and valuable NWSL experience. We believe her qualities will complement our group right away.”
Cluff was originally drafted as the 14th overall pick in the 2021 NWSL Draft by Orlando, but elected to finish her NCAA eligibility at Brigham Young University (BYU) before officially signing in 2022. At BYU, Cluff started 91 out of the 93 games she played from 2017-2021. She recorded 53 goals and 39 assists while helping lead the BYU Cougars to a 2021 National Championship. As a four-time All-American and three-time West Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, Cluff was a key contributor to BYU’s success during her tenure there.
During two seasons with the Pride, Cluff made 25 starts across 40 appearances with four goals and one assist. Including the past season and a half with Utah, Cluff has appeared in 58 total games in her four-year NWSL career, with 238 duels won and 71 tackles won. During the meeting between Utah and Seattle back on June 21st, Cluff played 14 minutes and committed a foul leading to a penalty for the Reign that Emeri Adames eventually scored. Outside of the foul, she recorded one shot and created one shot in her action against Seattle.
The move to sign Cluff comes somewhat quickly after the news of Ji So-Yun’s loan to Birmingham City, which will get the South Korean international more competitive minutes as she prepares for World Cup qualification in the coming months.
