Nicole Van Dyke, head coach of the UW Women’s Soccer team, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of this game. The 2025 season was incredibly successful for the Huskies, who won the Big Ten double (Regular-season champions and Conference tournament champions) and made it all the way to the Elite 8 in the NCAA Tournament. Three Huskies went on to sign in the NWSL this past season, while Van Dyke herself signed a contract extension at Washington through the 2030 season.
Of course, you cannot tell the story of Washington without mentioning the courageous Mia Hamant, who passed away back in November. Hamant was a standout goalkeeper for the Huskies and a beacon of hope, sharing her journey battling cancer. She was a beloved person and player, with her strength seen as a rallying cry for the Husky program.
Considering that it is May 4th, it is Star Wars Night at the ballpark. Fans showed up in full Force, selling out this special ticket offer that included a Mariners-themed Grogu Star Wars™ Bobblehead.
Ridgetop Middle School will perform the National Anthem.
May 5th
The star Seattle sports guests throwing out ceremonial first pitches continues on Tuesday, May 5th, as Storm rookie guard Flau’jae Johnson is slated to deliver the first pitch ahead of this game. Johnson was a star at LSU for her strong on-court career and her rap career off the court, acquired by the Storm on draft night in a trade with the Golden State Valkyries.
Flau’jae has already made herself a fan favorite in Seattle, whether it be wearing her draft hat for several days after the night she was selected, or the energy she’s shown on and off the court, among other things. Johnson adds to the exciting pool of young talent on the Storm alongside Dominique Malonga and Awa Fam. Given Flau’jae’s talent and star power, this surely won’t be her only ceremonial first pitch at a Mariners game.
Another fun theme night at the ballpark is on this night, as it’s another “Emo” Night at the ballpark. This ticket special lets fans take home a Mariners-themed Emo T-Shirt.
This is the first of two Nurse Appreciation Nights at the ballpark, both of which are sold out. The Mariners will be celebrating healthcare workers across the Pacific Northwest with an exclusive Mariners-themed Nurse Appreciation jersey. Fans can visit Section 124 to create thank-you cards, connect with recruitment staff, and enjoy free swag courtesy of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health (while supplies last).
As mentioned, each game of this series against the Braves is a Mariners Value Game. Tickets start under $12 for Mariners Value Games all season long. Fans can also take advantage of the Mariners Value Menu and Mariners Value Beer options for all 81 home games. For more information, visit Mariners.com/Value.
McAuliffe Elementary will perform the National Anthem.

What’s next?
The next homestand for the Mariners, later in May, will feature another Hello Kitty night, the second series of this year’s Vedder Cup, a Josh Naylor bobblehead, another Bark at the Park, and more when Seattle hosts the San Diego Padres and Chicago White Sox.
