Storm exercise 4th-year option on Jordan Horston

Seattle, WA - Our Seattle Storm exercised the fourth-year option on forward Jordan Horston, guaranteeing her roster status through the 2026 season. Horston’s contract was suspended for the 2025 season after sustaining an ACL injury while playing in Athletes Unlimited this past offseason.

Selected ninth overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft, the former two-time All-SEC guard from Tennessee made the five-player All-Rookie Team as one of the few bright spots on that years Storm team. Last season, Horston blossomed as a do-it-all wing, guarding the opposing team’s best player and taking on various responsibilities as a connector on the other side. She averaged 6.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and two stocks, ultimately tying for fifth place in Most Improved Player voting.

Horston’s swift rise as one of the best young wings in the WNBA may have taken some by surprise, but Storm franchise star Jewell Loyd anticipated it.

Honestly, Jordan had a big commitment this offseason of coming down and training with me. She guarded some of the best players in the world. And it wasn’t easy. There was a lot of frustration, and we challenged her every single day. I think that allowed her to think the same thing here. I think that built her confidence early. I knew that she has a lot of things in her to really be a star in this league, defensively. Sometimes, I think she doesn’t understands how good she can really be at times, so it’s really cool to see the progress from last year, from the beginning of the season this year. From game to game, it’s amazing. To me, I’m not surprised or shocked by this at all. This is what I envisioned for her in this league and she’s right on track to be a dominant player in this league.

With Seattle deciding to pick up Horston’s option, an obvious choice, the Storm currently only have four players under contract for the 2026 season per HerHoopStats.
