Mariners Minor League Weekly Wrap Up: April 28th-May 3rd, 2026

By Berlin Kofoed

Seattle, WA - We’re finally into May, and baseball from the Major Leagues to the Minor Leagues is in full swing around the country. The Seattle Mariners now have five affiliates in game action, as the ACL (Arizona Complex League) Mariners have kicked off their 2026 campaign with some exciting young names getting their first taste of affiliated baseball in the Seattle system. This past week in games for the Mariners’ affiliates wasn’t quite a massive winning success, as only the Travelers won their series. Still, some rehab assignments continued for big leaguers, and some prospects continued their strong starts to the year. Here’s a Mariners Minor League Weekly Wrap Up for April 28th through May 3rd, 2026.

AAA Rainiers vs Las Vegas Aviators (Athletics affiliate)

Rainers lose the series, two games to four

This was a rough series at home against Las Vegas, and not one I enjoyed looking back over as I got my notes together. There are, of course, high points, but losing the majority of the games always makes for a bummer of a time. Bryce Miller started in his 3rd rehab appearance for one of the two wins, where he went four innings, allowing two hits and two walks to turn into nothing while also striking out two batters. He had 53 pitches thrown in this game, 36 of which were strikes. While there’s still some time to go before he’s ready to take the mound again for the Mariners, it’s been good seeing him keep his rehab stints consistent and pretty strong.

While Colt Emerson’s strikeout rate has slowly ticked back up, he’s still getting on base, which is the important thing. With how strong he is defensively, it’d be nice to see him take some extra breaths up to bat to, at the very least, draw a walk. He did get homer number four and his first triple of the season this week, so clearly still on track.

Victor Robles also started his rehab from the Mariners with the team, having a couple of at-bats in the final game of the series. It’s good seeing him out in left field from the jump, not just a DH, which speaks volumes for how his recovery has been going. Hopefully, his rehab time won’t be long, and he can get back with Seattle. Considering the job Luke Raley has done for the Mariners in right field and at the plate, Seattle isn’t inclined to rush Victor back, giving him plenty of time to properly build strength up.

Rainiers notes

  • Gabe Mosser was named the MiLB Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Month (April) after going 2-1 through 6 appearances, holding a 2.21 ERA, which leads qualifying pitchers.

    • He also leads in WHIP (.087) and average against (.185). He’s allowed 8 walks and 9 earned runs over 24 hits through his 36.2 innings pitched so far.

  • Mariners top prospect Colt Emerson walked off the Rainiers’ 4-3 win on Saturday night with a fielder’s choice... marked his 3rd career walk-off plate appearance and the first since June 14, 2025, with Everett.

    • Emerson recorded 4 RBI over the weekend and has reached base safely in 23 of 27 games played this season.

  • OF Victor Labrada crushed his first home run of the season Saturday night...he has reached base in 11 of his last 13 games (4/16-c).

    • Since April 19, he ranks 4th in the PCL with a .400 AVG and 6th with a .500 OBP.

  • RHP Casey Lawrence (Saturday) and RHP Randy Dobnak (Sunday) each threw a quality start this weekend…

  • Tacoma pitchers have thrown 10 quality starts this season, tied for the most in the minor leagues.

  • RHP Michael Rucker extended his scoreless streak to 11 games Sunday afternoon…it is the longest streak in the PCL and tied for the second-longest across the minor leagues this season.

  • Tacoma’s bullpen currently leads the minors with a 2.44 ERA, the fewest runs allowed (35) and home runs allowed (3).

  • OF Victor Robles (right pec strain) will continue his rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma.

  • INF Patrick Wisdom (left oblique strain) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on May 5th.

AA Travelers @ Wichita Wind Surge (Minnesota Twins affiliate)

Travelers win the series, five games to one

What a strong, strong series from the guys in Arkansas as they only dropped a single game out in Wichita. There were so many home runs throughout the entire week, including six just in game three (Two from Caleb Cali, two from Hunter Fitz-Gerald, one from Lazaro Montes, and one from Bill Knight). In game two, the only one that Arkansas lost, their lone run came off of another Cali homer. In game five, there was yet another miniature home run derby: Montes hit three, and Jared Sundstrom tacked on one of his own (Second for the season).

After 13.1 innings, Charlie Beilenson finally allowed a run when Wichita hit a solo home run, but his ERA is still at an incredibly impressive 0.68, so I don’t think there’s any cause for concern. Beilenson has started this season off with such a bang, really keeping it locked down at such pivotal moments. In the month of April, he got three saves from his three save opportunities, and I fully expect that number to keep ticking up as the season goes.

One of my favorite rising pitchers, Michael Morales, earned his first win of the season in game one of the series, going five and two-thirds innings and only allowing a single run to score off of two hits (a homer) and two walks, while striking out five batters. It’s the furthest into a game he’s gone since last August, proving that Arkansas finds him to be a consistent, reliable pitcher. Kade Anderson also made it five and two-thirds innings in his appearance this week, the first time he’s gone into the sixth inning, and got his second win after not allowing a run off of four hits while striking out eight batters.

Travelers notes

  • Caleb Cali was named the MiLB Texas League Player of the Week. Cali hit 4 home runs in 3 games, with a total of 7 RBI through that time.

    • His current line sits at .239/.314/.533, striking out only once or twice a game while still consistently getting on base. He is tied for the 3rd most home runs in the Texas League (7) with fellow teammates Hunter Fitz-Gerald and Lazaro Montes, along with Carson Roccaforte from the Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

  • Not surprisingly, Kade Anderson was named the Mariners Minor League Pitcher of the Month.

    • Throughout the month of April, Anderson got 4 starts and allowed only a single run over 18.2 innings, with 4 walks and a whopping 30 strikeouts. It’s no surprise that he’s held onto his 0.48 ERA into the month of May.

  • Mariners No. 4 prospect Lazaro Montes had a career weekend which featured a 3-homer and 8-RBI game in Saturday night’s 16-6 win...his 2nd home run in the 4th inning registered at 118 mph off the bat.

    • Across the 6-game series, he hit .333 (8x24) with 6 home runs, 1 triple, 12 RBI, 4 walks, and 8 runs scored.

  • Blake Rambusch was named the Mariners Minor League Baserunner of the Month, going 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts during that time.

    • He continues to steal bases, sitting along with 2 other players in 2nd place with 14 total bags (and not a single time caught so far!).

      • He’s only 2 away from taking that lead, and with how he’s been running recently, I think it won’t be long until he leads the Texas League.

  • Nick Raposo was named the Mariners Minor League Defensive Player of the Month, with a fielding percentage of .994 and 8 successful attempts to catch an opposing player stealing.

  • INF/OF Brendan Donovan (left groin muscle strain) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Arkansas on May 5th.

    • Donovan is rehabbing in Arkansas with the goal of joining the Mariners when they begin their series in Chicago on May 8th.

Travelers Transactions

  • April 28th: Arkansas Travelers sent RHP Marcelo Perez on a rehab assignment to the Inland Empire 66ers

  • May 2nd: Seattle Mariners selected the contract of RHP Nick Davila from the Arkansas Travelers

  • May 2nd: Arkansas Travelers activated RHP Jason Ruffcorn from the Development List

Coming up for AA Arkansas, the Travelers will take on the Tulsa Drillers (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) at home for a six-game series.

High-A AquaSox @ Tri-City Dust Devils (Los Angeles Angels affiliate)

AquaSox lose the series, two games to four

Everett really started off things strong this week, taking the first two games with an 8-3 win and a 10-7 win, but they weren’t able to keep it going as the series marched on. Starting off healthy this season, Jonny Farmelo has unfortunately been off to a bit of a slow start, getting five hits while striking out ten times during this series. There have been some flashes of the Farmelo we’ve all seen and heard about, but nothing consistent from the young star yet. As the weather starts to heat up, hopefully he does as well.

The Mariners Minor organization has highlighted Brock Moore’s pitching over the last month, and he’s been phenomenal, but another unsung hero for Everett has been Christian Little. Through his 10.2 innings in the month of April, he only allowed three hits and a single run to score, striking out 19 batters. He’s been great to rely on to get out of some tricky situations or even to run for a couple of innings, a stark improvement over his 2025 start. At this time last season, he was sitting at a 6.89 ERA. Currently, he has a 0.84 ERA.

Tri-City is a tough competitor, with a strong lineup that seems ready for the team this season. They’re managing to stick right around them in the standings, pushing themselves further away from the lower half, but getting wins on them is important. If they can get back over .500 and stay there, then I think they still have a fighting chance to really gain ground on the Eugene Emeralds for that top spot for the first half-season win (currently 8.5 games back). But a series like this stings, taking just a bit more wind out of the teams’ sails as they head into the next series.

AquaSox notes

  • Felnin Celesten was named the MiLB Northwest League Player of the Week. Through this series, he had 23 AB, 10 H, drew 4 walks, and had 5 SO.

    • He continued to improve his line, ending at .295/.407/.420, and kept his hit streak going that started on April 21st.

  • Brock Moore was named Mariners Minor League Reliever of the Month, with his 2.16 ERA through 8.1 innings pitched. During that time, he allowed 3 hits and a walk to turn into 2 earned runs, while striking out 20 batters and earning 4 saves.

  • Luke Stevenson was named the Mariners Minor League Hitter of the Month, with 18 hits (2 doubles and a homer included), 10 RBI, and drawing 20 walks during that time. His line as of the end of the month stands at .321/.500/.482.

  • Brandon Eike homered in Saturday’s game, his 6th home run of the season, which is tied for the most in the NWL so far...across his last 5 games (4/26-c), he is batting .381 (8x21) with 6 runs, 2 doubles, 4 home runs, and 8 RBI.

  • RHP Bryce Miller is set to make his 4th rehab start on Wednesday, May 6th, with Everett in the second game of the team’s 6-game homestand vs. Hillsboro...Miller has struck out 12 across 8.2 innings with his fastball reaching 98 mph

Coming up for High-A Everett, the AquaSox return home to take on the Hillsboro Hops (affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks) for a six-game series.

Single-A 66ers @ Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (Los Angeles Angels affiliate)

The 66ers lose the series, two games to four

This was an important series that could have helped the team gain some ground in the standings, but with three walk-off 10th inning losses (and one regular shutout loss), Inland Empire just couldn’t get the edge that they needed. It’s definitely been a tough start to the year, with them currently sitting just above the Visalia Rawhide in last place. Despite the struggles this week, including some really high strikeout nights, some players still had incredible performances.

Mason Peters continues to dazzle. In his fifth career start, he went four innings, allowing only one hit and zero walks while striking out 6 batters. It’s been incredible seeing him really getting into the zone as he pitches, after his first game was a bit of a rough spike to his ERA. He’s seriously showing why he was a round four pick, and honestly, why I think he should be talked about along with Arkansas’s Kade Anderson as notable drafts from 2025. At age 22, I hope to see his inning load slowly tick up, just to test whether he can keep the power going into the fifth or sixth innings.

Both Cesar Quintas and Ricardo Cova have been insane so far this season. Quintas was recognized as the MiLB California Player of the Week (broken down below in notes), but Cova should be right there behind him, in my opinion. In game one of this series, he went 3-4 with a single strikeout and two stolen bases. He was sitting above .320 until the start of this month, when he began to cool off a bit. His current line is .284/.333/.486. He looks to be matching with where he’s been throughout his entire career so far, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see both him and Quintas promoted to high-A sooner rather than later.

66ers notes

  • Cesar Quintas was named the MiLB California League Player of the Week. After he went 5-5 with 0K in the April 28th game, it’s no surprise that he got such recognition. Getting on base is a regular occurrence for Quinta, as he was also 4-6 in the May 2nd game. He put up a total of 9RBI against the Quakes, and ended the week with a slash of .330/.419/.538.

  • Mariners 2025 Draft pick and LHP Mason Peters made his 5th professional start on Friday, tossing 4.0 innings and allowing 1 hit and 2 walks while striking out 6 batters...

    • He owns a 2.25 ERA (5 ER, 20.0 IP) with a 0.85 WHIP and 31 strikeouts across 5 starts this season.

  • Another 2025 Draft pick, RHP Jackson Steensma, threw 5.0 innings of 1-run baseball (1 ER) with 2 hits allowed and 5 strikeouts on Sunday in his 5th game (3rd start) this season…

    • He owns a 1.20 ERA (2 ER, 15.0 IP) and 0.40 WHIP with 22 strikeouts to 1 walk allowed to start his first professional season.

66ers Transactions

  • April 28th: Arkansas Travelers sent RHP Marcelo Perez on a rehab assignment to the Inland Empire 66ers

  • April 30th: RHP Will Armbruester assigned to Everett AquaSox from Inland Empire 66ers

  • April 30th: C Sebastian De Andrade assigned to the Inland Empire 66ers from the ACL Mariners

  • April 30th: Inland Empire 66ers placed C Connor Dykstra on the 7-day injured list

  • April 30th: Inland Empire 66ers transferred 2B Jo Oyama to the Development List

  • April 30th: Inland Empire 66ers activated 2B Brady O’Brien from the 7-day injured list

Coming up for Single-A Inland Empire, the 66ers will face off against the Lake Elsinore Storm (affiliate of the San Diego Padres) for a six-game series.

Rookie-level: ACL Mariners Wrap-Up

Baby M’s go 1-2 to start the season

Rookie ball started up this week, and the ACL Mariners came out strong in their first game on May 2nd, winning 24-6 against the ACL Dodgers. Through 36 AB, they put up 14 hits and also managed to draw a whopping 21 walks while only striking out, by comparison, 10 times. Francisco Pazos started the game off, covering 4.0 innings and striking out 6 while only letting a single hit turn into a run. Teddy McGraw, in his first rehab game from the Everett AquaSox, earned the win after covering 1.0 innings and only allowing a single run off of 2 hits and a walk, striking out 2 batters.

They narrowly took a loss in their next game (May 4), falling 3-4 against the ACL Royals, but the team did record their first homer of the season from Martin Gonzalez, a solo shot that temporarily put the team in the lead. Po-Chun Lin got the start in this game, going 4.0 innings and striking out 5 batters, allowing 2 runs to score off of 3 hits and a walk, but no decision was given to him. Instead, the eventual loss went to Wuilliams Rodriguez after his 2.0 innings, where a walk and a homer brought in 2 runs. Rodriguez did strike out 4 of the 9 batters he faced, though, showing a strong season start for him.

May 5th brought their 3rd game, this time against the ACL Cubs Red team, and they unfortunately took yet another loss (2-5) after such a bizarre start to the season. While they had 21 walks in that first game, they only drew a single one in this loss while striking out 12 times. Kendal Meza started off things, going 3.0 innings and earning the loss after 2 hits (1 homer) and a walk turned into a run. Roberto Perez took the mound after him, and things slipped further away from them, with the ACL Cubs Red tacking on 4 more runs and leaving the Rookie Ms in the dust.

Much like last season, I’m really looking forward to seeing how these players progress throughout the season. Rookie league is so interesting, since the players are all so young, because the games swing wildly around in score and skill shown. It’ll be interesting to see who starts to really show strength and gets pushed closer to the top for promotion as the season goes on.

ACL Mariners notes

  • The ACL Mariners drew 21 walks and recorded 14 hits in Saturday’s win...Leandro Romero drew a team-high 5 walks.

  • Mariners 2025 Draft pick and 19-year-old shortstop Nick Becker went 3-for-7 with a double, 3 RBI, 3 walks, and 4 stolen bases in his first 2 games of the year...

    • He is currently listed as the Mariners No. 9 prospect (MLB Pipeline).

  • Mariners No. 13 prospect RHP Teddy McGraw began his rehab assignment, allowing 1 run and 1 hit while striking out 2 in 1.0 inning on Saturday.

  • Mariners No. 25 prospect Po-Chun Lin made his first professional start on Monday, throwing 5 strikeouts across 4.0 innings and allowing 2 runs (2 ER), 3 hits, and 1 walk.
