CSS Food Drive 2025 Event Recap

By Charles Hamaker

Seattle, WA - The first ever food drive in Circling Seattle Sports Community Division history was a striking success, with our group donations being made earlier today. Thanks to those who brought donations in person to the food drive/Seattle Kraken watch party at the 32 Bar & Grill inside of the Kraken Community Iceplex and those who donated monetarily, we were able to raise 378 pounds of food that was split in donation to the Lynnwood Food Bank and Mary’s Place. Tallied up, our donation equals close to $1,000. Additionally, a large box of feminine hygiene products was donated to Mary’s Place to help as those sorts of items are in demand as well.

With what is taking place around our country in terms of food insecurity, demand is high and our Community Division knew that we had to get to work and rally our community. The folks in the Seattle sports community did not disappoint and this would not be possible without you, with the food banks sharing how thankful they were that someone was thinking of the community and that food demand is at the highest they’ve ever had.

For those who were able to attend the food drive/Kraken watch party, we were able to raffle off some items as a thank you to those who spent their time, money, and effort to donate. The giveaway items included a Kyle Seager signed baseball, Joey Daccord signed puck, Emerson Hancock signed baseball cards, Kraken gameday pucks, and a Matty Beniers signed photos among other items. Nearly every person in attendance at the food drive took home an item from the raffle.

We want to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the Oberto Beef Jerky company, who provided 500 sticks of individually wrapped cocktail pep sticks for the food drive, adding a big boost to our donation. Oberto has been an institution in the Pacific Northwest dating back to 1918, so it’s an honor that they provided product to help with our food drive in a time of need for our community.

Lastly, I’d like to personally thank our Community Division team of Mike, Kaitlan, Alicia, Jayd, and Ray. This group, and a few others, have worked tirelessly the last few years to come up with some of these events, which have resulted in great success when we’re all able to come together. The goal of our Community Division was always to bring together the Seattle sports fandom for a greater good, helping those in need behind the driving force of our love for Seattle’s teams.

Our next Community Division event will be our toy drive, our second ever toy drive after a large success with last years event which represented the first outing for our Community Division. Be on the lookout for details relating to this years toy drive, including another giveaway raffle and location information. Thank you for helping us bring the Seattle sports community together for the greater good!
