Seattle Cascades Announce 2026 Coaching Staff

By Becca Weinberg

Seattle, WA - After missing the playoffs last season, the Seattle Cascades coaching staff will have a new look headed into 2026. The team has announced that former assistant coach Casey Ikeda has been named head coach, and legendary Cascades player Mark Burton will join as an assistant coach. Last year’s head coach Kelly Johnson and assistant coach Steven Mogielski will not return to the team this season.

“It’s refreshing to have Casey Ikeda back for this upcoming season, and how cool that legendary ex-Cascades player Mark Burton is joining the coaching staff,” said Cascades general manager Xtehn Frame. “I’m looking forward to working with them both to keep building with a great group of players.”

Ikeda joined the Cascades prior to their 2024 season as an assistant coach, and was instrumental in their Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) Championship Weekend third place finish. He has a proven history of coaching success at multiple different levels, and will be an exciting leader for the team this season.

Burton played with the Cascades from 2016-2021, and is a legendary name in the Seattle ultimate community. He led the entire UFA in scoring in two consecutive seasons (2017-2018) and was a top five MVP finalist in 2016. He also holds multiple Cascades team records, including both single season goals and assists per game, and regular season total goals and assists. While his coaching experience is limited, he will be a huge asset to the Cascades’ coaching staff this season.

Since their first UFA season in 2014, the Cascades have averaged a 4th place finish in the West Division, and are looking for a breakthrough in 2026. With two fresh leaders at the helm, the team will continue their quest for the top, beginning with hosting their annual team tryouts on January 24th.
