Ballard FC and Unveil “Nordic Kits” for 2026 Season
By Charles Hamaker
Seattle, WA - The first new releases in Ballard FC’s partnership with hummel have been unveiled, as the 2026 Away and Goalkeeper kits are now live. Named “The Nordic Kits,” Ballard FC, Seattle’s premier USL League Two soccer team, has a flashy new look that pays tribute to its history while acknowledging the neighborhood they represent. Considering the clubs new partnership with hummel, the iconic Danish manufacturer, Ballard FC’s collection of uniforms celebrating Nordic make perfect sense to be the first release in this collaboration.
Coming into their fifth season as a club with plenty of winning history already, Ballard will tap into the historic roots of the neighborhood that they wear on their uniforms. Ballard is a sister city with Bergen, Norway, and is the city with the highest percentage of Nordic people outside of the Nordic region itself.
Adding further to the Nordic history, the kits were shot at the National Nordic Museum in downtown Ballard. The museum is the only institution of its size and scale in the United States to present the history and culture of the entire Nordic region and legacy of Nordic immigrants to the United States.
The details of the away kit feature patterns from traditional Nordic warriors, including a prominent breast plate across the chest. Noticeably, the Ballard FC crest is a shining gold, made to shimmer like the halls of Valhalla. To top it all off, the black collar on the kit provides a “classy” touch that will compliment the black goalkeeper kit.
The club wanted to ensure that they stressed the details when designing this kit, adding small easter eggs throughout. If you’ll notice, the head of a Viking warrior is placed in the bottom corner of the jersey.
The black goalkeeper kit features traditional Nordic patterns, but this uniform doesn’t depict patterns of battle like the away kit does. Instead, a traditional Nordic sweater is represented on the goalkeepers uniform with Selburose flowers and other traditional trademarks seen on Nordic sweaters are displayed on this look.
The Nordic kits will serve as Ballard FC’s away kits for the 2026 season, but will be worn as the home kit when the club hosts “Nordic Night.” For details on when that night will be alongside other theme nights, announcements will be made in the months ahead of the clubs season opener on May 15th.
For those interested in adding this kit to their collection, “The Nordic kits” can be purchased online at goballardfc.shop or in-person at the Team Store which is located at Smål Market in downtown Ballard (2206 NW Market Street, Seattle, WA 98107).
Ballard FC will open their 2026 season, looking to return to the National Championship game after falling just short of a title by losing to Vermont Green FC to cap off last season, with two home matches. The season opener comes on Friday, May 15th against FC Olympia with a 7:30 PM PST kickoff time followed by a meeting with Midlakes United on Friday, May 29th, with a kickoff time of 7 PM PST.
