Seattle, WA - As the Seattle Torrent set their sights on their second season in team history, three current and three former players have been called into the U.S. Women’s National Team’s October Training Camp. Ahead of the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship, Team USA will hold camp spanning from October 23rd through 30th at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan.

Veteran forward Alex Carpenter and rookies Abbey Murphy and Sydney Morrow, both out of the University of Minnesota, represent the Seattle Torrent as current players for this training camp ahead of Worlds. Carpenter is set to lead the Torrent into their second season, a team with a new look after a hectic offseason with more expansion teams joining the PWHL over the summer. She’ll be joined by two players set to make an impact on that new-look Seattle roster: rookie forward Abbey Murphy and rookie defender Sydney Morrow.

Alex Carpenter remains the image of consistency in the PWHL, turning in her third straight 20+ point season despite the turbulence of the Torrent’s inaugural season. Despite lineup changes and injuries to Seattle’s top forwards, Carpenter remained a steady point producer for the Torrent as their top line center with 12 goals and eight assists, notching just two penalty minutes all season. “Carpy” racked up six points (Three goals, three assists) over seven games played. After wearing an “A” for the Torrent last season and with the departure of former captain Hilary Knight, expect for everyone’s favorite Aquarium manager to wear the “C” for the remainder of her contract with Seattle.

The 24-year-old Murphy tallied seven points across even games played at the most recent Olympic Games with Team USA, scoring two goals and racking up five assists to go along with six penalty minutes. She’s shown well previously with Team USA in recent years, tallying six points across seven games in the 2024-25 World Championships and eight points in the 2023-24 World Championships before that. Murphy is set to infuse some exciting offensive talent into a Torrent team that struggled to score goals for the majority of their inaugural season, producing an absurd 66 points (40 goals, 26 assists) in 31 games during her final season at Minnesota.

The 22-year-old Morrow will get her first real opportunity with the main Team USA squad, having previously represented her country with the USA U18 team during the 2021-22 U18 World Championships, accounting for eight points (One goal, seven assists) in five games played. Morrow is also coming off an impressive offensive season with the Golden Gophers, scoring 38 points (Eight goals, 30 assists) in 38 games with Minnesota and quarterbacking their power play.

The trio of former Torrent players that joined PWHL Detroit this offseason will also be present for this Team USA camp, with captain Hilary Knight, Hannah Bilka, and Cayla Barnes being called in. The 37-year-old Knight is coming off a remarkable final Olympic Games, scoring the game-tying goal in the dying minutes of regulation and tallying six points (Three goals, three assists) across seven games played.

The 25-year-old Bilka also had an impressive Olympic Games, racking up seven points (Four goals, three assists) across even games played, but only ended up playing 14 games with the Torrent last season due to a few different injuries. The points didn’t flood in for 27-year-old Barnes in the Olympic Games (one assist in seven games) or with the Torrent (Eight points in 30 games), but she did command a lot of ice time with Seattle as a top pairing defender.

As part of this eight-day event, the U.S. and Team Canada will face off in a pair of exhibition games, including on October 28th at the WFCU Centre and on October 30th at USA Hockey Arena. Puck drop for both contests is set for 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT. Ticket information is available HERE.

Following the camp, the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship is set for November 6th through 16th in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark. It is anticipated that the final 25-player roster selected to represent the U.S. at the World Championship will be named on or around October 31st.
