Seattle Torrent Practice Notebook: December 1st, 2025
By Charles Hamaker
Seattle, WA - The second practice following the Seattle Torrent inaugural home opener saw a few faces that had been hit with the “day-to-day” designation return to the ice, even if briefly, one of the three goaltenders receive their mask finally, and blueliner Megan Carter met with the local media in attendance at the Kraken Community Iceplex. It was somewhat difficult today to keep track of everything going on at Torrent practice, as the Seattle Kraken were also holding practice at the same time and it appeared that their power play work on rink two (Smartsheet) leaking into the start of Torrent practice forced the PWHL team down to rink three (Virginia Mason Franciscan Health), so I’ve only got a few main notes for you from this practice session on Monday, December 1st, 2025.
Injury updates, to an extent
Last practice, we learned that rookie forward Jenna Buglioni (Upper body) had joined veteran defender Aneta Tejralová (Lower body) in the “day-to-day” camp. It remains unclear what exactly happened to Buglioni, but we did get somewhat positive news on both players thanks to seeing them on the ice for this practice session, with a hitch. Jenna Buglioni appeared to go throughout the full practice, a positive sign to her being able to avoid missing any game time for the Torrent and playing in the teams next game on Wednesday against New York. Aneta Tejralová did not go through the full session for this practice, as she was on the ice when the team began skating over on rink three (Virginia Mason Franciscan Health) but shortly after left the ice before the main group began the practice session.
If we were to base things off todays practice, we’d expect to see Buglioni in the lineup on Wednesday but maybe not Tejralová. Aneta has seemed in good spirits throughout the time that she’s been listed as “day-to-day,” and didn’t appear to have any clear issues skating for the teams player introductions ahead of the inaugural home opener or during the initial part of this practice, but she isn’t 100% back yet. We’ll have to see if she’s able to go through the main practice tomorrow to try and get any idea if she’ll play against the Sirens.
The first mask of the trio has arrived
In the Torrent goalie mask watch department of this practice notebook, we finally saw one of Seattle’s netminders get their bucket for the season. Starting goaltender Corinne Schroeder was rocking her new Torrent mask, as it appears to have finally come in through the mail. We didn’t get the best look at it during this practice session, as seen in the embedded video above that we got, but a few clear aspects that were visible included: Her #30 on the chin of the mask, the Seattle skyline on the back, the Torrent logo and wordmark on the top, and it appeared that there was a Space Needle on the back and or side of it as well. We are hoping to chat with the veteran puck stopper after tomorrows practice to get a better look at her new mask.
Here’s hoping that Carly Jackson and Hannah Murphy get their masks in sooner rather than later so that every Torrent netminder can have their full setup locked in!
Megan Carter meets with the media
The lone media availability that was held after practice included Torrent blueliner Megan Carter, who spoke with the handful of media in attendance about how she’s quickly become a fan favorite because of her physical playstyle, starting off the season, the other defenders on the Seattle roster, and how chippy things got towards the end of the last game against the Minnesota Frost. Below are key quotes from that media availability, as we unfortunately didn’t record it.
“I think one of the big pillars of my game is physicality, and I think that’s just developed over time, just being a big body, a strong person out there, it kind of just happened. I watched players, honestly you can just look to our team, players like Brownie, Wilgren, they’re all players that play that way, and they’re players who I’ve watched for many years, and I think they’re very successful at it, so I like to follow in those footsteps.”
“It feels great. Any opportunity you get to really start from ground zero again in the summer and really progress your way up to feel ready to go for training camp, to have a full training camp experience with all my teammates and really get to know them, that’s obviously a huge benefit. Last year, when you’re returning to play, you’re kind of missing some players, and you’re on the ice when they’re off the ice, and vice versa. It’s just much easier, easier connections, and I think that in the long run, will be great.”
“It’s been awesome. There’s such a variety of people and talent, we’ve become very close, we always pick each other’s brains, and it’s just nice to get different perspectives on how to play different situations. I think everyone is good at bringing everyone else up. I’m excited to see where that goes.”
“I mean, this league is fast and physical, things develop and they happen before you even know it. That was just one of those plays when you play physical, things like that kind of follow you. I just like to welcome that physical game and appreciate when competitors also play that way. ”
What’s next?
Following todays practice session at the Kraken Community Iceplex, the Seattle Torrent will have one more session prior to their next game of their inaugural season. The team will practice tomorrow at the Kraken Community Iceplex prior to game three of their season when they welcome the New York Sirens to town on Wednesday, December 3rd at Climate Pledge Arena with a 7PM PST puck drop. This contest against the Sirens represents the second game of five in a row at home for the Torrent, as Seattle looks to build the necessary chemistry needed to be the team that many believe they can be considering the talent on the roster. Currently, practices are closed to the general public so stay up to date on the Torrent by following Circling Seattle Sports on all platforms for updates.
