Seattle, WA - The Seattle Storm and WNBA announced on Monday that star forward Nneka Ogwumike was selected as a starter in the 2025 All-Star Game. Ogwumike is the lone Storm player to be named as a starter amongst this years group, being named to the forward group alongside Napheesa Collier (One of two captains in this years All-Star game), A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Aliyah Boston, and Satou Sabally.
This years All-Star game will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Sunday, July 19th. The game will be broadcast live on ABC, Disney+ and ESPN+.

In her second season in the PNW, the future Hall of Famer has been a key figure for the Storm in every way. She leads the team in rebounds and field-goal percentage, is second in points, steals, and fourth in blocks. Having won the Western Conference Player of the Week this past week, Ogwumike shot 53.1% from the field, the second-best mark among players averaging at least 15 points per game and ranks sixth in defensive rebounds with 6.3 per game. Ogwumike became the second player in WNBA history to score at least 25 points while shooting 65% from the field or better in three consecutive games, continuing to show the remarkable value that she’s had for this Storm team.
She’s averaging 17 points per game, which is 16th in the WNBA. Her rebounds (7.9) are the 11th-most in the league. Of players who take at least four attempts from the field, she’s shooting 53.1%, which is the fourth-best mark this season to date. She has three double-doubles and has seven 20-plus point games in 17 games.
On many occasions, players and coaches alike have remarked about Ogwumike’s commitment to her craft and how vital she is to the team, on and off the court. That level of commitment and dedication has earned her what is now her tenth selection to the all-star game in her career, becoming the fourth player in WNBA history to earn ten All-Star selections. Ogwumike was named a starter for the fourth consecutive season and second with the Storm, making her the fourth player in Storm franchise history to be named an All-Star starter in consecutive seasons.
It’s another accolade for the Stanford alum, who has broken a record or climbed up the top ten lists for all sorts of WNBA statistics throughout the year, while also being named to the All-WNBA team seven times including a spot on the second team twice each of the past three seasons. Ogwumike currently sits ninth on the WNBA all-time scoring leaderboard, and will absolutely be able to reach at least fifth on the list as she’s just over 100 points away from passing Candice Dupree who currently owns that spot. In terms of value to her team, Ogwumike currently ranks eleventh in the league with 2.2 win shares on the year so far. If we go for win shares in her career, Nneka ranks fifth in WNBA history and is within striking distance of Storm legend Lauren Jackson for fourth.
