Rising Stars: PWHL Seattle’s Jenna Buglioni Ready To Learn It All
By Silvia Leija-Rosas, edited by Charles Hamaker
Seattle, WA - Jenna Buglioni is officially part of Seattle hockey history.
With their first-ever pick in the 2025 PWHL Entry Draft, Seattle selected the Ohio State standout forward, and the choice makes a statement. Buglioni is a proven scorer, a two-time NCAA champion, and a player built for big moments. Now, she’s ready to bring that winning mentality to the Pacific Northwest.

On July 23rd, Buglioni joined her new teammates Hilary Knight, Cayla Barnes and Emily Brown for the team’s first media tour. Stops included all the Seattle staples: Pike Place Market, the Space Needle, and both a Storm and Mariners game. She even sat down with Circling Seattle Sports to talk about what’s next, during a special fan event at Rough & Tumble Pub.
“It’s a beautiful city!” she said. “I’m so excited to check out all the coffee shops.”
For Buglioni, who grew up just two hours north in Port Moody, British Columbia, this move feels like a full-circle moment. And while she hasn’t spent much time in Seattle before, she’s excited to dive into a city already making waves in women’s sports.
“The [Seattle] female sports scene is booming and it’s going to be such an amazing opportunity for us to put our stamp in that,” Buglioni said.
She’s stepping into a roster with heavyweights like Knight and Alex Carpenter, but the 23-year-old arrives with the mindset of a student.
“I just want to come in and be a sponge,” she said. “The resume that they have, I think for me it’s going to be, just, kind of learning from everybody.”
That learning has already started. Buglioni said she used the trip to pick Knight’s brain: “I want to know how to have a successful career like she has.”
If history is any indication, Buglioni’s career is already off to a strong start. She holds Ohio State program records for both single-season and career game-winning goals, and is tied for the most short-handed goals in Buckeyes history. She helped lead OSU to its first two national titles — and brings that same drive to Seattle.
“Coming from a winning program, it’s win at all costs,” she said. “I just have that drive to get our team out on top every night.”
And she wants Seattle fans to know exactly what kind of player they’re getting: a loyal spitfire who won’t shy away from a fight.
“Every time I put that jersey on, they’re getting the best of me.”
