Corinne Schroeder signs with PWHL Seattle, filling all five spots for Exclusive Signing Window

Seattle, WA - Seattle continues to build its inaugural PWHL roster with the addition of goaltender Corinne Schroeder, who signed a two-year deal following two standout seasons with the New York Sirens. This signing represents the fifth and final deal that PWHL Seattle can make during this Exclusive Signing Window, with PWHL Vancouver filling out their final and fifth spot yesterday. At just 25, Schroeder brings elite-level experience and a proven ability to perform under pressure with an already impressive resume at her young age. The PWHL’s third all-time in saves leader (1,005) is a key addition to this Seattle team as they’ll look to do so right away with their remarkably talented forward group so far, providing an anchor on the back end to help deny opposing offensive attacks. All eyes now turn to Monday’s expansion draft, where Seattle will make seven selections.

Schroeder led the league in shutouts during the 2024–25 season with four, posting back-to-back shutouts twice to bring her total to a league-record five career regular-season shutouts, while finishing with a .919 save percentage and a 2.43 goals-against average over 20 starts. She helped New York stabilize in a competitive season, highlighted by performances like her 28-save shutout in a 1–0 overtime win against Toronto. Her numbers ranked among the league’s best, and she earned recognition as one of the most reliable goaltenders in the PWHL. Schroeder has put together back-to-back impressive seasons for the Sirens and has been quite the value pick for New York, as she was selected 33rd overall by New York in the inaugural PWHL Draft and has played in 35 games across two seasons. Her first year in the league was remarkable, as the native of Elm Creek, MB made history by recording the league’s first-ever shutout on January 1st, 2024, against Toronto in the PWHL’s inaugural game. She finished that inaugural league year with a .930 save percentage and was voted a finalist for the 2024 PWHL Goaltender of the Year award.

Before going pro, Schroeder played at Boston University, where she set program records in goals-against average (1.98) and save percentage (.929). After transferring to Quinnipiac for her final college season, she earned All-USCHO First Team honors and was team MVP and a finalist for NCAA Women’s Goalie of the Year. She later joined the PHF’s Boston Pride, where she made an immediate impact—winning both Goaltender of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors in 2023.

I am incredibly honored and excited to be joining PWHL Seattle next season. The city has such a remarkable sports culture that I am eager to contribute to and build upon with our team. I am truly grateful to the New York Sirens organization for the past two seasons and would like to thank them for believing in me and supporting me every step of the way. I’m looking forward to meeting all the passionate fans and joining the Seattle hockey community. I can’t wait for puck drop out West!

Seattle general manager Meghan Turner called Schroeder’s signing a key step in building a competitive roster.

Signing Corinne is a huge step for our team. With four shutouts this season, more than anyone in the league, she’s shown she can take over a game and deliver when it matters most. She brings poise, confidence, and the kind of elite goaltending every team needs to win, and we can’t wait to see her between the pipes for us.

With Schroeder on board, Seattle adds stability and strength in goal as the team gears up for its first season in the PWHL.

Schroeder becomes the fifth player to sign with PWHL Seattle ahead of the Expansion Draft, joining a group that includes forwards Hilary Knight, Danielle Serdachny, and former New York teammate Alex Carpenter, along with defender Cayla Barnes.

With these signings, Seattle has reached the league’s limit of five additions during the Exclusive Signing Window for expansion teams. The 2025 Expansion Draft is set for Monday, June 9 at 5:30PM PT / 8:30PM ET and will stream live on thepwhl.com and the league’s YouTube channel.
