Seattle, WA - PWHL Seattle made a key move in building out their inaugural roster by signing goaltender CJ Jackson to a one-year contract. Jackson joins a goaltending group that’s already shaping up to be competitive, creating a netminder room of Corinne Schroeder via the exclusive signing period and Hannah Murphy out of Colgate via the entry draft.

Jackson appeared in one regular-season game for the Toronto Sceptres in the 2024-25 PWHL season but made a lasting impression. In that start, they stopped 25 of 26 shots and were perfect in the shootout, helping secure a 2–1 win. While a small sample size, the performance stood out both for their composure and technical sharpness in net. their reaction time, lateral movement, and glove control all looked dialed in, signaling they are more than ready for a larger role.

Before entering the PWHL, Jackson had a solid professional career in the PHF, where they played for Buffalo and Toronto, earning fan-favorite status thanks to both their play and personality. They are known for being technically sound and mentally steady, with strong instincts and solid rebound control. At 5'5", they are one of the shorter goaltenders in the league but compensate with quickness and smart positioning.

Seattle’s goaltending depth will likely be an area of strength, especially with the addition of Corinne Schroeder—widely seen as one of the top netminders in the league. Jackson’s arrival gives the team flexibility, whether in a backup role or as someone who can push for starts. With a new coaching staff still shaping the rotation, there's room for competition and shared responsibility early on.

We are thrilled to welcome CJ to Seattle. They are dedicated in every way - as an athlete, a teammate, and an ambassador in the community. CJ consistently demonstrates our values and will be a key component of our goalie group and team.
— Meghan Turner, PWHL Seattle general manager, on the signing of Jackson via official press release.

Beyond the ice, Jackson is known for their energetic, team-oriented presence. They have a history of connecting with fans and teammates alike and have been vocal about creating inclusive spaces in hockey. Seattle’s environment, already known for its progressive fanbase and community involvement, should be a natural fit.

I’m stoked to be a part of this historic team in the Emerald City ––- especially a city that hosts legendary women’s sports careers/ teams like Sue Bird and Seattle Storm. I’m ready to bring it to the rink- let’s do this Seattle!
— CJ Jackson, PWHL Seattle goaltender, via official press release.

For a new franchise trying to strike the right balance between long-term development and immediate impact, signing a goalie like Jackson makes sense. They bring experience from two pro leagues, have shown they can step up in big moments, and offer the kind of depth every team needs in a long season. While it remains to be seen how the rotation shakes out, Seattle’s goalie situation looks far more stable—and potentially dynamic—with them in the mix.
